idea for this comes from Laina Sunflower's video EVERYTHING in the TXT UNIVERSE EXPLAINED || PART 1 (CHARACTERS) ! i haven't actually watched it yet though so if anything is similar it really is pure coincidence ^^' Soobin General: Morse Code - Tomorrow Flower - White Orchids Animal - Praying Mantis Shape - Flower Affected Area - Ears (ringing/listening) ANALYSIS: "Tomorrow." Perhaps this is meant to show how Soobin often looks ahead rather than facing the present? "White Orchids." White orchids symbolize innocence, purity, elegance, and reverence. "Praying Mantis." In most cultures, a praying mantis symbolizes stillness and calmness. "Flower." Flowers can symbolize delicacy. Overall, though, it's hard to put a symbol to a flower since most of the time it depends on the certain flower. (See White Orchids above.) "Ears." In 'Nap of a star' he is shown to be listening with an ear trumpet. In 'Magic Island,' his ears ring before something bad occurs. Time and time again, Soobin is shown to be connected to his ear and to hearing. Magic Island Teasers: "Is this moment real or is it just a dream?" #tomorrow #songofastar #itslikeimdifferentfromeverybodyelse ANALYSIS: "Is this moment real or is it just a dream?" Which moment is he talking about? Also, his teaser is the only one that doesn't use scenes from the music video. Perhaps he saw the ghost girl at the pond prior to whatever happened on Magic Island? But was it real? "Tomorrow" is Soobin's Morse code. "Song of a star" is interesting; I wonder if he's the most closely connected with the star? "It's like I'm different from everybody else." Well, that's obvious. He's hearing and seeing things, he seems to be invisible...there are many ways Soobin is portrayed as different from the others. But it's nice to know he notices it. (I guess...) TDC - Eternity Concept Photos Starboard: Choi Soobin - 8 posts, 4 following (YJ, BG, TH, HK), 4 followers (YJ, BG, TH, HK) Keyword: ETERNITY Tags: Understanding, apricity ANALYSIS: "Understanding." Interesting. Has he completely changed his viewpoint from the Port photos, where one of his hashtags is "misunderstanding?" No, I don't think so. Rather, it seems that Port is about the reality, whereas Starboard is about what they wish (or "promise"). "Apricity." Yeonjun is actually the one tagged with this word, not Soobin. (See YJ's profile.) TDC - Eternity Concept Photos Port: Choi Soobin - 8 posts, 4 following (YJ, BG, TH, HK), 4 followers (YJ, BG, TH, HK) Keyword: INVISIBLE Date: May 18th Movie: Le Doulos Hashtags: #misunderstanding #therewillbeaway 1. SB: "Why should it only be me that has a hard time?" 2. SB: "What are we going to do now?" 3. SB: "It's all because of you/me." (Unfortunately, I've seen different translations for this but I don't know which is more accurate. ;-;) ANALYSIS: "Invisible." This is how Soobin sees himself, and how the others treat him. "May 18th." The day the album dropped. Smooth, Big Hit. ;) "Le Doulos." "Le Doulos is all about the shadows: the literal ones cast by the lampshades of Parisian streets and the metaphorical ones cast by the lies criminals tell to each other and themselves. It's a messy, confounding business, but it's enthralling to watch." - PopMatters Le Doulos is a French movie that follows a newly-released jewel thief as he immediately plans another heist. Eventually, however, it turns out that the plot is more about his relationship with two other characters--one of which is supposedly a police informant. He walks the line frequently, so I'm still not sure if he's truly a police informant or an accomplice to the jewel thief. The fact that the movie is about lies and pinning evidence on others is incredibly intriguing to me. Does that NOT sound like what's been happening in the +U? The concerning thing, however, is at the end of the movie--without spoiling anything--many characters wind up dead, many by misunderstanding. ("Misunderstanding.") "There will be a way." This...actually seems out of place. Usually, this is Taehyun's line. I'm...a little confused as to why it's Soobin's now. "Why should it only be me that has a hard time?" and "It's all because of you/me" are actually both said by Soobin in the concept trailer for the album as well. If it's you, I'm guessing it's referencing the Odd-Eyed Cat. If it's me, well. "What are we going to do now?" An excellent question. Sounds as if even he doesn't know. Side Note: On the Port concept photos, it says underneath their bio "[Insert member], [insert member], and two others are following this account," to show that it's the members that are following each other. But on Soobin's Port photo...it says "beomgyu_c, taehyun_k, and three others are following this account." Why is there an extra person following him? And why is it not reflected in his following count? I believe it is NOT the Odd-Eyed Cat like many people think, but rather, the Ghost Girl from 'Eternally' MV. It could also be the OTHER Ghost Girl from 'Magic Island' MV. I wouldn't be surprised if it was either of them. Because, think about it--what are these numbers? Four, five. Why is there a ghost number out of nowhere? YEONJUN General:
Morse Code - Promise Flower - Purple Tulips Animal - Beetle Larvae Shape - Star Affected Area - Head/Throat (horns/cut) ANALYSIS: "Promise." When I hear the word promise in the +U, I am immediately reminded of the promise they made to the star. Perhaps Yeonjun is also very closely connected to the star> "Purple Tulips." Although tulips can symbolize many things, purple tulips in particular symbolize royalty. Cutting forward to 'Eternally' MV, where there are no tulips but Yeonjun is covered in purple "blood," it makes me wonder if it wasn't a "mockery of the king" type of thing. Purple flowers (and purple in general) usually symbolize royalty, success, tradition, and beauty. By using purple to slander something--or, in this case, someone--rather than using it to build someone up, it's like a slap in the face and adding insult to injury at the same time. Hurting someone with the very thing they're often praised for. "Beetle Larvae." Okay, who else was shocked when this popped up in his intro film? Beetles usually symbolize change, transformation, growth, and rebirth. They can also symbolize the ease with which someone can adapt to new situations. "Star." Stars are usually accepted as a symbol of protection. You will see them in religious symbols, alchemy, art and design--almost everywhere. "Head/horns." In 'Nap of a star' (and 'CROWN' although a little less literally), Yeonjun is shown to have horns growing out of his head. ("Meorie ppuri sosa, but...I love it--" sorry, couldn't help it.) Horns are quite an interesting symbol as they can go one of two very different ways. In as neutral of terms as I can make it, horns represent ferocity, strength, and regal dignity. "Throat/cut." In 'Nap of a star' and 'Eternally,' Yeonjun is shown to have a cut across his throat. To me, this is actually pretty disturbing imagery, if you think about it. Humans use their voices all the time. If your throat is cut, well, erm, you probably won't be able to use your voice for at least a little bit, depending on different factors. Losing your main form of communication, however, would be terrifying. Magic Island Teasers: "It's like there's someone other than us [here]..." #promise #itsbecauseofme #practiceroomghost ANALYSIS: "Promise" is Yeonjun's Morse code. "It's because of me." What is because of him? Perhaps he (at least) feels that whatever happened on Magic Island was his fault. In the concept photos for Port, his keyword is guilty. That would make sense. "Practice room ghost." Really intriguing. If you think about it, the whole reason that we have the MV for 'Eternally' is...Yeonjun. In 'Magic Island,' Yeonjun mentions a "practice room ghost" in their text conversation. Beomgyu wants to go check it out. In 'Eternally,' they are at the practice room, looking for the ghost. TDC - Eternity Concept Photos Starboard: Choi Yeonjun - 8 posts, 4 following (SB, BG, TH, HK), 4 followers (SB, BG, TH, HK) Keyword: ETERNITY Tags: Sleepless, apricity ANALYSIS: "Sleepless." Interesting to me that sleepless is on Yeonjun and not Soobin, considering Soobin's nightmares. Perhaps Yeonjun is sleepless due to whatever the guilt he's feeling is? "Apricity." Apricity: defined - noun: Warmth of the sun; basking in the sun. I...have no idea why this is here. TDC - Eternity Concept Photos Port: Choi Yeonjun - 8 posts, 4 following (SB, BG, TH, HK), 4 followers (SB, BG, TH, HK) Keyword: GUILTY Date: May 18th Movie: Paranoid Park Hashtags: #imscared #itwasjustajoke 1. YJ: "There's somebody who broke us." BG: "Hyung, you know." 2. YJ: "Where do we go now?" 3. YJ: "I wish it was all a dream." ANALYSIS: "Guilty." Yeonjun feels guilty. I'm finding it hard to figure out why, however. There are many ideas: Because he's the one that suggested they go to Magic Island in the first place, because he's the one that brought the matches, because he is somehow the instigator of whatever disaster happened at Magic Island, because he didn't see it coming...I have no idea what it could be. "May 18th." The day the album dropped. Smooth, Big Hit. ;) "Paranoid Park." Paranoid Park is a film based off of a book of the same name. It follows a sixteen-year-old boy who accidentally pushes a security guard off of a train and kills him. He tries to hide the evidence, and the movie follows him dealing with the trauma and secrets. This is...um. Worrying. Especially after 'Can't You See Me?." Yeonjun is obviously hiding something, and that scene of him staring at his hands and looking up at the boys is...concerning. These movie recommendations are meant to give us insight into the +U character's backgrounds. "I'm scared." Going back to Paranoid Park, the main character spends most of the movie afraid. "It was just a joke." Obviously, whatever he feels guilty for was never meant to hurt anyone. It was meant to be a joke, a harmless prank. But something got out of hand. "There's somebody who broke us." "Hyung, you know." Does Yeonjun know? Or does Beomgyu just think he does? If he does know, then who is it? "Where do we go now?" Similar to Soobin's caption (See above). I don't think Yeonjun can even begin to think of what to do after whatever happened on Magic Island. "I wish it was all a dream." Dreams play a big part in the +U, so his choice of words is interesting. For example, I'm sure that for Soobin this has been a dream, and he's seen this before.
